The US U-17 women made the final after coming back in dramatic fashion. The US fell behind in the 8th minute after succumbing to early pressure from the Germans, giving up a header to Alexandra Popp. They would have to wait close to an hour before finding their equalizer. Erika Tymrak was subbed on in the 61st minute, and shortly after set up DiMartino’s tying goal in the 64th. The US would continue to pressure until, as the reality of extra time loomed, Courtney Verloo found herself six yards out of goal and a chance to win the game in the 83rd minute. She buried it into the open net, and she buried the Germans.
